Ruroc has put a new finish on its carbon AT4.0 full-face helmet, and it isn't subtle. The AT4.0 Carbon Hellside is a molten satin red limited edition, and Ruroc's U.S. product page lists it at $549.
Underneath the paint, this is the helmet Ruroc already sells: the same carbon-fiber AT4.0 shell, liner and fittings. What's new is the finish and the numbered run. Ruroc describes the red as a satin-matte graphic laid over a dark base, borrowing the outline of its existing Darkside design.
Key points:
- Price: $549 in the U.S., with free U.S. shipping on orders over $100.
- How many: Ruroc says 250 individually numbered helmets worldwide.
- Timing: Ruroc's release says preorders opened Sept. 17 and shipping started Oct. 5, 2026.
- Labels: Ruroc lists DOT and ECE 22.06 certification for the AT4.0 Carbon.
What you get in the box
Here's what Ruroc lists for the Hellside:
- Shell: carbon fiber, with what Ruroc calls an intermediate-oval fit
- Impact tech: a RHEON liner system, which Ruroc says is meant to reduce rotational forces in a crash
- Strap: a Fidlock magnetic buckle
- Visors: a clear and a tinted visor, both included; the visor is Pinlock 70 ready (the insert is sold separately)
- Comfort: a sport liner, with alternative cheek pads in the box per Ruroc's release
- Weight: 1,600 g (±50 g) for the S/M size, about 3.5 pounds
- View: 215 degrees horizontal and 100 degrees vertical
- Warranty: three years for the original buyer
Each helmet gets a limited-edition sticker and a numbered liner label, according to Ruroc's release. Sizes run S/M, M/L, L/XL and XL/XXL.

The safety ratings, and what they cover
Ruroc's page lists DOT, ECE 22.06 and a four-star SHARP rating. Those numbers are worth knowing where they come from.
- DOT is self-certified. The maker certifies that a helmet meets the federal standard, FMVSS No. 218. NHTSA doesn't approve helmets before sale; it can test them afterward. Look for the DOT label on the back of the shell when yours arrives.
- The SHARP stars belong to the base helmet. SHARP is the UK government's helmet-testing scheme. It rated the carbon-fiber Ruroc Atlas AT4 at four out of five stars in February 2024. That test was on the standard helmet, not this new paint, though nothing in Ruroc's listing suggests the Hellside is built differently underneath.
- RHEON is Ruroc's claim. We haven't seen independent testing of how much the RHEON system helps in this specific helmet, so treat it as a feature Ruroc advertises rather than a measured result.
Ruroc also says the helmet beats ECE 22.06 requirements "by a minimum of 20%." That's the maker's statement, and the page doesn't say which tests it refers to.
About the Shockwave audio
Ruroc's helmets are built to take its Shockwave Bluetooth audio system, which fits inside the shell.
The product page wasn't consistent about it when we checked on Oct. 12. The spec list says Shockwave is sold separately (normally $199), but the Hellside listing advertised a free Shockwave and custom visor with this helmet, applied at checkout.
If you want the audio, look at your cart total before you pay and make sure the Shockwave line shows up at the price you expect.
Stock, shipping and returns
When we checked, the Hellside page was taking orders and showed a "final 50 remaining" banner. Ruroc doesn't publish a live count, so treat that as a snapshot, not a promise.
For U.S. buyers, Ruroc lists:
- Free shipping on orders over $100, by tracked courier
- Delivery within five days of dispatch to the mainland U.S., seven days to Alaska and Hawaii
- Free returns and exchanges, with 14 days to exchange a size
Ruroc also adds an optional crash replacement plan to the cart by default. It gives 50% off a new Ruroc helmet after accidental damage within the warranty period. Remove it if you don't want it.
Covering a $549 helmet
A limited-edition lid is the kind of gear that's easy to forget about until it's scuffed in a parking-lot drop or gone from a bike at a rest stop.
Many motorcycle policies cover helmets and riding gear only up to a set limit, and some pay only when the gear is damaged in a covered crash. If you'd want this one replaced, ask your insurer:
- Gear limit: how much your policy pays for helmets and apparel
- Theft: whether a helmet locked to the bike is covered if it's stolen
- Deductible: whether a gear-only claim is worth filing once it's applied
The receipt and the numbered liner label are good proof of what you bought, so keep both.
What we still don't know
- Remaining stock beyond the banner Ruroc was showing on Oct. 12.
- Whether the free-Shockwave offer applies to the Hellside at checkout.
- Independent test results for the RHEON system in this helmet.
