A head-up display built into a Shoei helmet is now a product you can order, at least in Europe. French company EyeLights sells the GT-Air 3 Smart, a version of Shoei's GT-Air 3 with an integrated FHD Nano OLED head-up display that shows navigation, speed and call information inside the visor. EyeLights lists it at €1,249.
It isn't a new October launch, and EyeLights hasn't published a U.S. price.
The short version

How the HUD works
A small OLED display inside the helmet projects an image that appears to float about 3 meters in front of you. The idea is that you can glance at speed or a turn arrow without refocusing on a dashboard or phone.
EyeLights claims this leads to faster reactions. It hasn't published the test behind that figure, so we're not repeating it as fact. What's reasonable to say: a display near your line of sight means less looking down, but any display is still something to look at instead of the road.
Audio and intercom
The helmet includes a premium audio kit and a noise-canceling microphone, which reduces wind noise for the people you're talking to. It isn't active noise cancellation for your ears.
EyeLights describes a universal intercom that works across helmet brands, online and in an offline mesh mode. Range and group limits depend on phones, networks and settings, so check the details before relying on it for group rides.
Certification and availability
The GT-Air 3 Smart is a modified version of a Shoei helmet. Its safety certification for your market should be confirmed for the Smart model specifically, not assumed from the standard GT-Air 3. Before ordering from outside the U.S., ask EyeLights whether the Smart version meets DOT requirements for the U.S. market and your state's road-use rules.
When checked, EyeLights' page showed the helmet as sold out with pre-orders open and a 14-day money-back guarantee. Shipping regions and timing vary.
What we don't know
- U.S. price and distribution
- DOT certification for the Smart version
- Independent testing of the HUD's visibility and distraction
Bottom line
EyeLights' GT-Air 3 Smart builds an OLED head-up display into Shoei's GT-Air 3 for navigation, speed and calls, with 10+ hours of claimed battery life, at €1,249. Confirm U.S. certification and delivery before ordering.
