Royal Enfield Sets an October 26 U.S. Sale for the $8,499 Hypershift Classic 650

Royal Enfield is selling a 125th-anniversary version of the Classic 650 in the U.S., and you can't just walk into a dealer and buy one. It's being sold as a timed online "drop," and you have to register in advance to take part.

The bike is the Classic 650 Hypershift 125th Anniversary Edition. Royal Enfield's U.S. page lists it from $8,499 and says the sale opens on October 26, 2026, at 11 a.m. Eastern. Registration opened on October 16.

Royal Enfield says it built 625 of these bikes. That's a global number, though, not the U.S. share, and the page doesn't say how many are set aside for American buyers.

Key points:

  • Price: from $8,499, before taxes, registration and dealer charges.
  • Sale time: October 26 at 11 a.m. EDT, open only to people who registered.
  • Payment: selected buyers get 48 hours to pay the dealer they picked, with no extensions.
  • Delivery: 120 to 180 days after booking, through that dealer.
  • What's different: color-shifting paint, hand-painted pinstripes, anniversary badges and a quilted seat. The engine is the regular Classic 650 twin.

What makes this Classic 650 different

The headline feature is the paint. Royal Enfield calls it Hypershift, and says it "changes from red to gold and from bright to dark depending on the viewer's angle." Walk around the bike and the tank and fenders should look different from each side.

The rest of the changes are trim:

  • Hand-painted pinstripes
  • Commemorative side-panel badging
  • Anniversary badges and logos marking 125 years of Royal Enfield
  • A quilted leather seat

One small detail from the FAQ: the pillion seat comes in the box and isn't fitted at delivery. If you plan to carry a passenger, ask the dealer to install it before you ride away.

How the U.S. drop works: October 16 registration opened at 4:30 a.m. EDT; October 26 sale opens at 11 a.m. EDT for registered riders only; selected buyers have 48 hours to pay their dealer with no extensions; delivery takes 120 to 180 days through the same dealer
Steps and times from Royal Enfield's U.S. Classic 650 125th Anniversary Edition page and FAQ. Taxes, registration and dealer charges are extra.

Same 648 cc twin underneath

Royal Enfield's anniversary-edition page lists these specifications:

  • Engine: 648 cc parallel twin
  • Power: 34.6 kW (about 46 hp) at 7,250 rpm
  • Torque: 52.3 Nm (about 38.6 lb-ft) at 5,650 rpm
  • Suspension: telescopic fork, twin Showa rear shocks
  • Seat height: 800 mm (about 31.5 in)

The standard U.S. Classic 650 page lists a 535 lb kerb weight and a 3.9-gallon tank. Royal Enfield presents the anniversary edition’s changes as paint and trim; it does not claim a performance increase.

How the October 26 drop works

This is the part to read carefully if you want one, because the process has firm deadlines.

  1. Register before sale day. Registration opened on October 16 at 4:30 a.m. EDT. Only registered people can take part on October 26. You pick a Royal Enfield dealer when you register.
  2. Show up on October 26 at 11 a.m. EDT. The sale runs on Royal Enfield's site. Selected participants in each region get a confirmation email.
  3. Pay within 48 hours. You pay the dealer you chose, within 48 hours of confirmation. Royal Enfield says there are no extensions, and a missed payment loses the spot.
  4. Wait for delivery. Royal Enfield quotes 120 to 180 days from booking, handled by your dealer.

Royal Enfield doesn't explain how buyers are selected on sale day, so don't assume it's first come, first served.

If you're not selected, the FAQ says you'll go on a waitlist. Waitlisted people may be offered a bike if a selected buyer doesn't pay in time.

Things you can and can't change

You can switch dealers or fix registration details until you submit on sale day. Your first name, last name, email and phone number can't be changed, so make sure those are right now.

After you've paid, cancellation is at the dealer's discretion. That means there's no guaranteed refund in the published terms, so ask your dealer about its policy before you pay.

Financing is offered through the selected dealer. Royal Enfield also notes that state taxes and registration fees may apply on top of the price.

Before you register

A 48-hour payment window is short. If you're serious about buying, a few calls this week will save a scramble later:

  • Call the dealer you plan to choose. Ask what it will actually charge on top of $8,499, including freight, setup and any documentation fees, and whether it can take payment quickly.
  • Sort out financing early. If you'll finance through the dealer, ask what they need from you before October 26.
  • Ask about the cancellation policy. Since refunds are up to the dealer, get the answer before you pay.
  • Plan for the wait. At 120 to 180 days after an October booking, delivery would land somewhere between late February and late April 2027.

The U.S. page's country selector also lists Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia and Argentina. Other markets may run on different dates, so go by the U.S. page if you're buying here.

A note on insurance

Ask your dealer, lender and insurer when coverage must begin; financing or delivery terms may require proof before handover. Confirm how the insurer will identify and value this anniversary edition.

The paint is where a limited edition can cost more after a crash. A color-shifting finish with hand-painted pinstripes may be harder and pricier to match than a standard color.

A bike built in limited numbers can be harder to value. When you shop for coverage, ask how the insurer would value the bike if it's totaled. Keep the dealer invoice and any paperwork showing it's an anniversary edition.
